Twenty two years ago, my life took a strange turn. It was June 6, 1981 our bus met with an accident. I fractured my right femur. In a government hospital the doctors sutured a small cut in my ankle, without cleaning it. As a result, gangrene set in. The doctors tried to save the leg but failed. My whole world came crashing down . Much later, I met Dr. P.K. Sethi, who had pioneered the Jaipur Foot. The first question I asked him was, "Will I be able to Dance?" And he said, "Why not?" Finally I was fitted with the Jaipur Foot. Then I gave my first performance, which took place in Mumbai on January 28, 1984.
